There is definitely something enchanting about the internet. For starters the fact that it’s the World Wide Web is mind boggling enough; the fact that you can draw any website, video, game, you name it, from any corner of the earth into the privacy of your own home with simply the click of a mouse is pretty amazing. Then there’s the mystery that surrounds the internet, similar to space, you cannot accurately put a measure on how much of it is out there, an unlimited amount of information, videos, pictures, and everything else imaginable swirling around.

What I do understand however, is that if you manage to push these pestering questions to the back of your mind for a second, you can find some pretty awesome stuff out there; fashion blogs, online shopping (so good, but so bad), handy tips for getting wine stains out of the carpet, step-by-step recipes, blogs and much, much more. One of the sites aiding our generations' addiction, dependence and all round love of the web is StumbleUpon. I stumbled upon StumbleUpon in the back of a lecture theatre at University after a friend recommended it. I wasn't quite sure what was happening at first and then the next thing I knew I was in love. John Green's quote from his book "The fault in our stars" accurately describes my relationship with StumbleUpon; "I fell in love the way you fall asleep, slowly, then all at once".

So, how does StumbleUpon work and how will it change your life? Read on only if you have copious amounts of spare time to dedicate to your new addiction (which I'm sure you don't, but I can guarantee you will make time).

Firstly, head to www.stumbleupon.com and sign up for free, then select the categories you are interested in (the more, the better as these determine what you stumble through).

Once you've selected these categories a menu bar will appear at the top of your screen.

You only need to pay attention to one button on here, and that's the 'Stumble!' button. From here on every time you click this button you will be directed to a new site that StumbleUpon thinks you're interested in (this is where your categories come into play), and 95% of the time it's spot on.

I can confidently tell you that I have spent many an hour stumbling through what the StumbleUpon world has to offer and I'm a better person for it! I have found online boutiques I otherwise never would have known about, hilarious videos that have made me laugh until I cry and delicious recipes that I never in a million years would have conjured up.

So what are you waiting for? Get stumbling and begin your fast, tumbling, head over heels fall into a loving and long lasting relationship with what the World Wide Web and StumbleUpon has waiting for you.
