As we approach the end of the financial year, it's a great time to evaluate your website.

Is it working hard for your business? Are you getting results?

 

Remember the 'why'?

It's easy to get carried away with your website and digital projects. Remind yourself and your team of the 'why'. What's the main purpose of the website? What's the one thing it should do brilliantly. 

Does everything (all the new blog posts, images, SEO, new features) align to the objective of the website.

Remember and keep in mind the brilliant Team NZ mission statement during the successful America’s Cup.

"Does it make the boat go faster?"

 

Does your website truly reflect your brand?

If your brand is young and sassy – does your site have the attitude that reflects this?

If your are a professional service - does your site look trust worthy and authentic?

If you think the brand has moved on and your site hasn’t kept pace then it may be time for a design refresh.

 

Is your site mobile friendly?

If not – sort this out and quickly.

Would you have a physical store that locks out every second customer? Well, in effect that’s what you are doing if you don’t have a site that respects those myriad of visitors accessing your site via mobile. Not only is it disrespectful – but it’s a double whammy as Google penalises sites that are not responsive or at the very least mobile friendly.

Is your site easily found?

There is a lot you can do to help in this regard.

SEO isn’t all about massive and expensive Google Ad campaigns. You, as the owner of the site, can do plenty - and if you don’t have the time to focus on this your agency can support you.

For starters be aware of the important key words you are wanting to get an audience for. Factor these strategically into the content on the site – meta descriptions, page titles, header text and news/blogs. There is much more to be done but carefully aligning all new content to the 'why' and the relevant key words is a great start.

Is your site delivering measurable results?

Once clear on the 'why' of a website, it is important to measure how it performs and delivers results.

Google analytics is a great (and free) tool but it needs to be set up carefully to measure the actions that matter.
